How to unlock the transfer market in FC 27
FC 27 has two locks: one in the game and one in the Web and Companion Apps. Here is how each one opens, how long it takes and what keeps it shut.
Quick answer
New to Ultimate Team? Complete three objective groups in the game: The Journey Begins, First Team Dreams and Rising Through the Ranks. EA then opens the in-game transfer market within 24 hours on PlayStation and Xbox, or within 48 hours on PC.
The transfer market in the Web App and Companion App has a separate lock. Returning players who earned access in an earlier season usually have it already. Everyone else earns it with active days: three full Ultimate Team matches and a login to either app on the same UTC day. With one account on your device, two active days is normally enough.
EA's support advisers cannot open the transfer market for you or tell you when it will open. The only route is playing.
Why the transfer market is locked
EA limits transfer market access on new accounts to protect the economy from rule-breaking activity, and to make sure real new players learn Ultimate Team before they trade. New accounts are easy to create, so a fresh club has to show some real play first.
There are two separate transfer market locks, and opening one does not open the other. EA says that finishing the in-game objectives does not unlock the transfer market in the Web and Companion Apps.

Step by step: unlock the transfer market in the game
- Start FC 27 and open Ultimate Team.
- Go to Objectives.
- Complete The Journey Begins. This unlocks First Team Dreams.
- Complete First Team Dreams. This unlocks Rising Through the Ranks.
- Complete Rising Through the Ranks. This starts the countdown to full transfer market access and to Champions.
The Journey Begins
The Journey Begins is the first group, and every new club starts here. EA built these groups to introduce new players to Ultimate Team, so expect tasks that walk you through the basics of the mode. Open the group in the Objectives menu to see its exact tasks and rewards, because EA can adjust them during the season.
Check the Objectives menu after each session. It shows what is left, and it is easy to finish a task and forget to look at the next one.
First Team Dreams and Rising Through the Ranks
The second and third groups follow the same pattern. Each one only appears after you finish the one before it, so work through them in order. Finishing Rising Through the Ranks is the trigger for transfer market access.
The waiting period
After the last group, EA grants full access within 24 hours on PlayStation and Xbox and within 48 hours on PC. During that window you can already list items for sale. You cannot search the transfer market, place bids or use Buy Now until it ends.
Use the time to list duplicates and players you will not use on the transfer market, so you have coins ready when searching opens. EA keeps 5% of every sale, and our tax calculator shows what you will actually receive.
Champions opens on the same route
The same three groups also unlock Champions. You still need the usual entry requirements, including Division Rivals progress and Champions Qualification Points. If you already meet them, access arrives within the same 24 or 48 hours.
Step by step: unlock the transfer market in the Web App
Returning players
You may have access from day one if your EA account is in good standing and you earned app market access in one of the last three seasons:
- FC 26, before 1 August 2026
- FC 25, before 1 August 2025
- FC 24, before 1 August 2024

Everyone else: active days
An active day is a calendar day, in UTC, on which you play three full Ultimate Team matches and log in to the Web App or Companion App. It counts per Ultimate Team account.
- Play three full Ultimate Team matches in the game. Finish every match you start.
- Log in to the Web App or Companion App on the same UTC day. The login is what counts, so a quick look at your club will do.
- Repeat on a second day. With one account on your device, two active days normally earns access.
- Watch for EA's in-game message in Ultimate Team, or check the transfer market in the Web App.
Playing more than three matches in a day does not speed things up. Spread the effort over separate days instead.
The UTC trap for UK players
EA counts active days in UTC. From late March to late October the UK is on British Summer Time, one hour ahead of UTC, so a UTC day runs from 1am to 1am UK time. A match you finish at 12:30am after a Saturday night session still counts towards Saturday.
The clocks go back on Sunday 25 October 2026. From then until late March, UK time and UTC match, and a day is simply midnight to midnight.
The safe habit is simple. Play your three matches and open the Web App in the same evening, well before midnight.

EA describes these as normal times, not promises. You get a message in game when access arrives, and you can always check the transfer market in the Web App.
On PlayStation, Xbox and PC
The rules are the same on every platform, with one difference. After the objective groups, the in-game wait on a computer is twice as long as on a console.
PS5 and PS4
Your Ultimate Team club is shared across PS5 and PS4. A family console can slow things down: if brothers, sisters or friends have played Ultimate Team on the same PlayStation, EA sees several accounts on the device, and Web App access normally takes at least four active days. Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One

A computer club has its own market, whether you play through the EA app, Steam or Epic. The in-game wait is up to 48 hours, double the console wait. If you are blocked or banned from the transfer market
A lock and a ban are different things. A lock means you have not earned access yet. A block or ban means EA has removed access for breaking its rules, and the app tells you so.
EA uses two messages. One blocks the transfer market in the Web and Companion Apps only, and you can still trade in the game. The other is a wider block on the transfer market. Both tell you to check the email linked to your EA account, where EA explains why.
- FC 26 transfer market bans do not carry over. You will not get automatic access in FC 27 either, so you earn it by playing, like a new player.
- Franchise bans do carry over. A ban from the whole FC franchise affects your access in FC 27.

Common mistakes that keep it locked
- Logging in to the wrong EA account. The Web App must use the account linked to your game.
- Playing but not opening the Web App. Matches alone are not an active day. You also need an app login.
- Splitting the two across days. The matches and the login must fall in the same UTC day.
- Quitting matches early. EA asks for three full matches.
- Sharing a console. Every extra Ultimate Team account on a device stretches the wait.
- Grinding ten matches in one day. More than three a day does not help.
- Stopping after two groups. Rising Through the Ranks is the one that opens the in-game transfer market.
- Using bots or auto-buyers. Third-party automation breaks EA's rules and is a quick way to lose transfer market access altogether.
Once the transfer market is open
A few habits help from day one. List players you do not need on the transfer market rather than quick selling them for a handful of coins. Many players trade from the Web App on a laptop, where searching the transfer market and listing several players at once is easier than on a controller. Work out the 5% tax before you price a card. And check the promo calendar: a new promo often pushes prices down on release night, which is a good moment to sign players.

How do I unlock the transfer market in FC 27?

Why is my EA FC transfer market locked?
Usually because the account is new and has not finished the three objective groups, or because it has not earned transfer market access in the apps yet. If EA has blocked you for breaking its rules, the app shows a message saying so and EA emails you the reason. A lock opens with play; a block does not.
Why can't I get on the transfer market in the FC 27 Web App?
The apps have their own lock. Finishing the in-game objectives does not open it. You need returning-player access from FC 26, FC 25 or FC 24, or active days: three full Ultimate Team matches plus an app login on the same UTC day. Two active days is normal for a single account on a device.
How long does it take to unlock the transfer market?
